What I HAVE done is say that part of the criticism or investigation should be to take into account the belief systems, the times, the surroundings of the events. It's called historical objectivism

And if the evidence indicates that she issued receipts and solicited money under false pretenses, as staff members and others appear to be indicating--then tell us how the "surroundings" will impact on that. Will they make the disgrace better or worse?
