Telstra Corp.'s Phone Traffic Lower Than Expected, Paper Says By Mathew Carr
Sydney, May 3 (Bloomberg) -- Telstra Corp., Australia's largest phone company, said the phone call traffic volumes on its fixed line network could be lower than expected, the Australian newspaper reported, citing Ted Pretty, Telstra's retail chief.
Pretty, who's division is responsible for 70 percent of Telstra's revenue, told European investors and analysts that traffic volumes might slow with the economy, the report said, citing an attendee of the presentations.
Any statements made by executives in Europe weren't materially different from those made previously in Australia, Telstra spokesman Jason Laird told Bloomberg News. ``We're under obligation to disclose anything material to the market.''
Telstra, 50.1 percent owned by the Australian government, is trying to boost its revenue in Asia as increasing competition reduces its domestic market share. quote.bloomberg.com |
