INTERESTING STOCKS TO WATCH IN TECH, DEFENSE, STORAGE AND CREDIT

Carol: I'm Carol Angela Davis for ItsAboutFinance.com. In the news the nasdaq looks so good to us today, up 600 points in about a month. And look at some of these internet incubators; try CMGI (NASDAQ:CMGI) it is up 110% in 5 sessions and up 226% from its low which was 1.75. Internet Capital (NASDAQ:ICGE), another incubator is also up. Let's look at the PC stocks, Dell (NASDAQ:DELL), Compaq (NYSE:CPQ), Gateway (NYSE:GTW) and Hewlett Packard (NYSE:HP) are up while IBM (NYSE:IBM) is down. Also making a comeback tody are the brokerage stocks Bear Stearns (NYSE:BSC), Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and Merrill Lynch (CDNX:IML) are all up. And in retail lets just take a quick look at the range The Gap (NYSE:GPS), Walmart (NYSE:WMT) and Saks (NYSE:SKS) are down while Gucci (NYSE:GUC) and Kmart (NYSE:KM) are up. McDonalds is down, Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) is up. And among those reporting tonight are Applebees (NASDAQ:APPB) the catalogue company and Protein Design (NASDAQ:PDLI). Stay with me. I'll bring you Tony Seissor of Melvin Securities.

Break: The Chicago Stock Exchange, the fastest growing U.S. stock exchange.

Carol: Thank you for staying with us on ItsAboutFinance.com where we watch your money. The Dow closing down today 22 points at 10,875. The nasdaq closing up 52 points at 2220. Here is Tony Seissor of Melvin Securities.

Tony: Today, the market was relatively slow, not a real strong buy until the last hour of the day, unfortunately a little selling came into the market in the last hour of the day; but we've had some good indexes, some good stocks performing well, especially the techs, internet stocks. Some cross currents in the market today but we had a great day yesterday in the market so a little bit of pull back today.

Carol: To be expected?

Tony: Sure maybe a little foreshadowing for Friday's unemployment numbers.

Carol: What about Best Buy (NYSE:BBY), I know you work with that stock.

Tony: Best Buy had a great run today, up another couple of dollars, a good strong performer all around, beating the estimates earlier this month. Just a great company. As a follow-up to your story yesterday about video games, a good chunk of their income comes from that and a lot of analysts are all over this company.

Carol: And you like the contract manufacturers, Celestica (NYSE:CLS) is it?

Tony: Celestica is out there waiting for original manufacturers that need a little assistance in producing electronics; companies like Lucent (NYSE:LU), Motorola (NYSE:MOT), which cant produce certain equipment in a cheap way or in a certain location in the globe.

Carol: And Celestica does this?

Tony: Celestica goes to other parts of the world and opens up cheaper operations and produces that for companies. Bear Stearns loved Celestica today and it performed well.

Carol: General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), you like?

Tony: Great news for General Dynamics, they are buying out Newport News Ship Building (NYSE:NNS) which produces aircraft carriers and submarines. They tried to buy the company a year or two ago. The government said no, it would not go but they this week that it will probably go through, great fundamentals on General Dynamics and Boeing (NYSE:BA).

Carol: What about Brocade (NASDAQ:BRCD)?

Tony: Brocade is a real exciting company. We trade it, it is a nasdaq company that provides information storage for different companies and software; allowing them to manage their information in a better way. Brocade has had a good run in the last 2-3 days, down near the basement the last month or so, all the bad news is out of the stock and people are starting to recommend it.

Carol: In the credit card sector you like Capital One (NYSE:COF) and Providian (NYSE:PVN).

Tony: From an analytical standpoint these companies have recovered and are trading close to their January levels.

Carol: Well we want you to spend, just do so responsibly. Thank you for joining us. I'm Carol Angela Davis, join me tomorrow at 1pm CST for the Finance News.
