i think by now both the borrowers and the lenders are aware that things have gone way too far. since there is no obvious solution, they have decided to try to smother every rally in paper and more paper...looking at the outstanding gold derivatives and how they have grown at the biggest bullion banks since the WAG, it's rather obvious that that is what has happened.
bottom line is however that they have created an even bigger Frankenstein that way.
