AES NewEnergy is Awarded License to Supply Electricity in New Hampshire
biz.yahoo.com
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 2001--The New England regional office of AES NewEnergy announced today that it has been granted an electric supplier license from the State of New Hampshire. The license, effective April 18, 2001, was awarded by the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission.

AES NewEnergy is also a licensed electricity supplier in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware and numerous other states across the country.

``AES NewEnergy will now be licensed to offer electric generation services to commercial and industrial customers throughout New Hampshire. In a challenging marketplace for electricity supply, we feel confident that as the markets open up, we will be able to offer savings and innovative products in New Hampshire as we have across New England and the nation,'' said Jonathan Moore, Senior Vice President of AES NewEnergy.

``At a time when we hear so much about rate hikes and the complexities of electricity deregulation, customers need a supplier they can count on to provide competitive priced electricity and innovative information products,'' Mr. Moore added. While New Hampshire's area will not have a market oriented Standard Offer for some time, AES NewEnergy plans to be ready as the market opens. Today, there are specific curtailment programs it can offer to New Hampshire customers.

AES NewEnergy has already demonstrated its skills in the New England marketplace by securing cost-saving electricity prices for partners such as the Maine Grocers Association, the Massachusetts Municipal Association, the New England Newspaper Association, the Rhode Island Association of School Committees and the Western Massachusetts Chambers of Commerce.
