Matsushita stretches DVD storage By Reuters June 9, 1997, 5:15 p.m. PT TOKYO--Matsushita Electric announced today it has developed technology to produce high-definition DVD discs with more than five times the storage capacity of standard DVDs. The new technology can produce discs capable of holding 15GB of data on each side, while current rewriteable DVDs can store only 2.6GB per side, a Matsushita spokesperson said.
