Recent news on Lexar: They have an agreement to supply their flash card for the new Nikon Coolpix 995 camera, and they also made an agreement with Olympus to supply Lexar brand SmartMedia and other flash cards. The press releases hype the fast 8x speed of the Lexar cards and also note that Lexar has cross licensed SanDisk for some of Lexar's technology.

Note, it's my understanding that as a result of the cross licensing agreement, SanDisk will be able to improve the read/write speed of its own chips, without paying royalties to Lexar. However, Lexar, to the extent that it still produces flash cards similar to Compact Flash, will have to pay royalties to SanDisk. Nevertheless, Lexar was trading near 3 after hours, which represents quite a gain over the past month. It should also be noted that in Lexar's most recent financial report, they increased their proforma loss, which is running at about the same level as their revenues, which were flat the last quarter.
