Sonny, the point is to allow enough time for the information to be REASONABLY available to the largest possible audience. If you watch the market all day, I guess you can react nearly as quickly as the professionals. If you had to work in a factory, for instance, you might not like the fact that others could get and trade on information you didn't see because you don't sit at a PC all day.

I thoroughly disagree that making announcements like this during market hours could possibly help to level the playing field between professional and individual investors.

Intel wasn't trying to dampen volatility or control the direction of the stock price in any way. Let me repeat for emphasis: Intel wasn't trying to dampen volatility or control the direction of the stock price in any way. Rather, we believe we have an obligation to make our public disclosures as broadly available as can be reasonably expected. We want everyone to have a chance to think about the news being released, not just the ones with the most real time access to the markets.
