Cheney/Bush are fighting against the clock to get their tax cut signed. In a month everyone would know that they were lying, but if they get it signed next week they will take credit for next month's economic news.

What baffles me is how dense the Congressional Dems are. If they stalled for a few more weeks they could kill the scam, but Gephardt is fundamentally a cajoneless moron.
