>SEATTLE - Microsoft has agreed to acquire closely held NCompass Labs, which makes software for creating and managing content for Web sites.

The deal will allow Microsoft to add products to its family of server computer programs. The deal is worth $36 million, the companies said.

The acquisition gives Microsoft a more complete Web site-building offering, though Vancouver, B.C.-based NCompass isn't a significant player in its market, said analyst Greg Vogel at Banc of America Securities.
