I try to keep trades in the sub 2 week range. I do have longer term outlook but only for a bigger picture. I then trade short term fluctuations with more allotment going to the trades which go with my longer term outlook.

As far as long term outlook I vary in time frame depending on where market is at. If it is nearing a key support or resistance level the time frame I consider long term is shortened. As it plays out and the support or resistance test completes I go back to a longer time frame.

No strict rules to the madness. Recently my focus has been much more on time then price.
