The discussion with Napster is significant as MS is likely looking for something to boost the 'wow factor' (and profits) of the new Windows Media Player 8. Integration of Napster's marketplace with Microsoft's copy protection and payment system, which the recording industry is waiting for, will grease the skids of peer-to-peer.
