MARKET

I’m sorry to say that it looks as if the bulls have pulled a nifty rabbit out of the proverbial hat. Looks like I’ll need a little Van Morrison and a lot of Buds for consolation this evening. However, as is the case at the ponies, if you won ‘em all it would get quite boring very fast, and this market isn’t likely to get boring until the dog days of summer. The NDX at today and this week’s low held last Friday’s close by less than a half-point and looks to end the week with a triple-digit gain thanks to today’s reversal. The SPX and Dow look as if they’ll post a gain of somewhere in the vicinity of 1%.

All in all, a good week considering the weak economic data. And, while things can get mighty flighty on a Friday close, it looks as if the bulls will push ‘em to the day’s best levels at the bell. This is, above all things, a humbling business.
