<<Yeah Fred, Sudan is a much better choice for the Human Rights Commission than the US and Missile Defense initiatives are far worse that Child
Slavery UN got its priorities straight as usual and you are there to attack our leaders. After all who cares about black kids enslaved in the Sudan
anyway. You should apologize for that portion of your post. I know you didnt really mean to say it so just apologize please. Mike >>

MIke- Sadly, you miss my point. Of course it is ludicrous that Sudan and other countries that have no civil rights traditions are on the commission. However, I want you to consider what motivated members to vote against the US, with our tremendous tradition of distrust of government. I agree about the comment about dissent being accepted during Viet Nam, and I'm personally moved to tears by the Freedom of Information Act. How many countries allow their governments to be reviewed so fully?

The issue is that international anger at the US is mounting under Dubya. He is destabilizing treaties and beginning another cold war. That's why we were not voted, in a secret ballot, on this commission. Dubya is a chess player who doesn't seem to understand that the other person has a strategy also. You want me to apologize to the man who generated antagonism to my country?
