If you look at a 20-year curve illustrating the requisite skills to implement LANs - in relative terms - the species is already extinct.

Plug 'n' Play has reduced the required skills levels and understanding of what is going on "inside" the boxes - and on their interfaces - to the level you suggested. As it is should be. No? Comments welcome.
