"The problem with being nice to the Chinese is that they take it as a sign of weakness. And weakness is something appropriate for ridicule. If you rub their faces in the rice bowl a few times respect is the result."

Jerome, Just like Fred with his Sudan faux pas, the above can be construed as racist remarks.(I know they are not intended that way.) Its childish to believe our relationship with China should be governed by the above. Neednt rub anyones face in the rice bowl. In 50 years both china and russia will have fine democracies in place and conflict is not necessary to achieve this. Again, China is a teenage country when it comes to democracy. Nationalism has reared its ugly head. We need to be tough minded but keep the relationship strong by supporting those folks there who yearn for our type of system. And some of those folks are in government and some are the very students who now evoke that nationalism. Mike

PS On topic--Good week coming for the markets, i hope. I have one worry and it is Cisco. If they do as expected, and even if they still see no visibility, the stock may still go up if Chambers talks about 30-50% growth when visibility returns. If body language is bad, could cisco tank the market? Thats my concern for Tuesday 4pm.
