Pete: The word is getting out that in the real world, the P4 is an overpriced under performer. Its a POS.

The P4 may not be the greatest chip out there right now, but it looks very tough to beat on .13&#181 coupled with DDR-SDRAM. Yes, performance isn't going to be quite as good as with Rambus memory, but raw clock-speed combined with the inevitable performance (IPC) enhancements (likely not too many, but e.g. more L2 cache seems a certainty) will make it a very powerful chip.

Heck, if Intel really feels that more bandwidth is needed, they can always use 2 DDR-SDRAM channels - just like they've been using two DRDRAM channels with the i850. The motherboard will be somewhat more expensive, but total price (memory + motherboard) will still be below DRDRAM+i850.
