Have you installed AOL? Do you use it/like it?

I'm grateful for AOL because they make MSFT look saintly by comparison. For the average user the AOL client might as well be a virus the way it freely commandeers the machine and tweaks all sorts of things behind the user's back without asking permission.

The main difference between AOL and MSFT derives from the business model. Both want to own the user but AOL really needs to own the user because they need a captive audience for advertising. Without a captive audience for advertising the AOL side of AOL-TWX is just another commodity ISP and this shows in everything they do. That's why AOL is squirming over Windows XP.
