Apology accepted.
Jerome,
You should check your recent posts regarding China and US policy. They have been harsh. Your politics overall seem to me to be liberal democratic. From your posts pertaining to China, you might have a blind spot when it comes to this subject. You have adopted a position to the right of Bush and way to the right of Clintion.
From my dealings with Chinese people on a very personal level, I find them to be wonderful, highly intelligent people. My son and daughter in law who is Chinese American today completed their Iron Man competition to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma and raised over $12,000. She never charged a hill and killed Americans during the Korean war. In fact her parents had just escaped from the mainland when the Korean War was going on.
Regarding China, if the US hadn't kept going North after they repelled the north korean attack, the Chinese might not have entered. If you were China, you would have been concerned about "nuclear armed" America led by Chinaphope MacArthur closing in on your border. When you study international politics as I have, there is another question for every answer. This is tough stuff.
I go back to the Kennedy's stroke of genius in answering the first Soviet note which was conciliatory, not the second belligerent one during the Cuban Missile Crisis. And that lesson was learned just one year after the disastrous Bay of Pigs. And then we get Lyndon Johnson who escalated a war he knew couldnt be won, because he didnt want he and his party to be accused of losing Vietnam by the Republicans. 60,000 Americans dead for because of the sin of false pride. That sucks. Mike
