Probable AMD Palomino Schedule [6:22 pm] Rat

According to The Inquirer, we dare suppose how AMD will announce its new Palomino based CPUs. Here is what the AMD’s schedule will look like:

15 May: AMD presents the first Palomino guy – the mobile CPU. Its working frequency at launch is very likely to be around 1GHz. The CPU will have PowerNow! 2.0 technology with a few enhancements, which will allow more flexible core frequency adjustment depending on the battery status. Besides, the CPU will feature comparatively low power consumption due to lower Vcore.

4 June: AMD will launch server Palomino for Dual-processor configurations. As we read over at The Inquirer, the working frequency of the first CPUs will be equal to at least 1.2GHz. Moreover, server Palominos are rumored to have an increased L2 cache. Unfortunately, they will be quite power-hungry and will require 450W PSU. The server systems built on new AMD Palomino and AMD-760MP chipset will require Registered DIMMs with ECC.

Desktop Palomino is most likely to come out some time in August, which is still a while ahead. Their initial working frequency will make 1.5GHz.

Besides, AMD is also going to announce the new Athlon (Thunderbird) 1.4GHz in the nearest future, and according to the most recent data, these CPUs should crop up in early June. Nevertheless, some hardware retailers are already accepting orders for this newcomer.
