They do tend to longevity. I think when your life is focussed with minimal doubts, and a lack of many of the job change stressors, etc. that the larger society goes through--this can only reduce stress and increase life span. They also have the comfort of a "family" throughout their life, and they do not need to contend with stress and worry over basic needs, etc.

Of course, these remarks are general. but I have met a few in their 80's and 90's, and some of them have amazing vitality.

If one merely wanted a life of relative comfort and emotional support--this would seem the way to go. Of course, I speak from the N American perspective. I suppose there are Orders who receive very disparate degrees of church support and financing.

My anecdotal experience is that they run the best nursing homes(at least in Canada). I wonder if there are studies on that?
