I guess I don't understand how that deal would be good for AMD.

Using history, when Cyrix signed the deal with IBM, IBM was allowed to manufacture one chip for Cyrix and one chip for IBM. Then IBM undercut Cyrix by selling at a lower price.

Now, if history repeats, and AMD signs a similiar agreement with IBM, how does that help AMD?
