I have walked through and even lived in many black neighborhoods that were considered bad neighborhoods. I always found the people friendly, unlike in the upscale white neighborhoods I lived in when I was in California.
True, I did get mugged by two black men once, but this was no worse than the beatings I received in High School by the class bullies. Additionally, unlike in High School, where reporting the beatings would only lead to further beatings, the police rapidly apprehended the perps, and with the mother of one of the perps prepared to testify against him, they pleaded guilty as charged. Of course, this was in a black neighborhood were the blacks and police were working together to clean up crime.
By contrast, the family of the black woman I lived with in California feared the L.A. cops (actually cops in general). Indeed, this woman's sister was harassed by the cops repeatedly, in spite of being an L.A. District Attorney. |
