"Dale, Are you claiming that IBM has entered into an agreement with AMD to produce AMD products?"

No, I am simply using this as an example of how the 20% cap on outsourcing processor production to foundries can be overcome. In other words, I do not see the 20% cap as a problem, only a factor to be considered when making future plans.

If you think there is a good chance of such a deal being struck (I'm sure IBM has other plans for Fishkill), go ahead and factor this into your investment strategy. But don't blame me if it never happens.

Of course, just as I urged AMD to buy NexGen and hire one of the core architects of the Alpha to head up the NexGen design team in producing a superpipelined x86 core with separate fp units for fpadd and fpmultiply, together with urging them to coordinate with DEC on making this processor and a then future generation Alpha processor bus compatible, I am currently urging them to enter into this deal with IBM.

For the record, when a representative of AMD called me to talk to me about my suggestions back in 94, I got the distinct impression he was digging for where the leak was, rather than truly interested in my ideas.
