I generally don't have problems with 500-1000 share trades. Sometimes they will be split, but it generally on even 100's.

HOWEVER, there have been times when I have gotten these wierd splits. And even more often when I see them on Island, and simply choose to avoid the stock. I don't know what game is being played here, and I choose not to play a game that I don't know the rules to.

It doesn't make a lot of sense, and I am convinced that there is something untoward going on here. Not saying that it's Datek's doing, but I think somebody is placing these trades for some reason other than the obvious. (The obvious being that they want 11 shares of DELL.)

These trades are placed during the day and in unusually large numbers. I haven't identified the particular market conditions under which they are placed - sometimes there are plenty of them, and sometimes they are absent.

My feeling is that what is being done is abusive. It doesn't matter to me if Datek is a part of it or just facilitating it, but I am 99% certain that they know what is going on - but they aren't saying. It's just one more thing that makes Datek an odd-ball house that is only useful in very specific circumstances.
