Here's a recent article that tests system performance gains obtained from incrementally increasing RAM. According to the results, you should be hitting the sweet spot with 384mb. But depending on your use patterns, it may make little difference.

At the very least you can get an idea of what to expect in performance increase from a memory upgrade.
