That's very strange. What does hitting teach? It teaches that you hurt someone physically when they annoy you. It teaches that big people, or powerful people, can hurt small people who are not powerful- and that teaches small people to want to grow up so THEY can hurt people too. So stupid. So pointless. Discipline is about teaching, not about bullying. Bullying and violence are the problem, not the solution. What we need to teach is peaceful strategies for learning and coexistence- these cannot be taught by a paddle. But the antithesis of the lessons we need to teach can certainly be taught by paddling.
