Without a witness observer what is time.

If a tree falls in the woods, it still crushes the grass even without a sentinent listener. Time existed before life. It is interesting the way that time and it's perception can differ, for example: there is no reason that the universal "clock" has to tick with even spacing, but our perception is from tick to tick and so will appear even to us and our measurements regardless of how variable it is.
