John. have you noticed that the market treats the 'bullish missives' of the CEO at EMC much differently than at Dell?

it's okay if EMC misses because their CEO is not a genius. he just talks big.

it's all relative. it's not dependent on absolute growth rates. EMC missed too. their market cap remains higher than Dell's. EMC's CEO continues to state that the growth of their business model is "unlimited". How do you define "unlimited"?

should MD come out and say the growth of Dell is "unlimited"? theoretically it is unlimited.

one difference bw Dell and EMC is that fewer analysts are equipped to analyze EMC; so they are more dependent on the general bullishness of the sector leaders. EMC's growth rate is no greater than Dell's.

it can be argued, too, that EMC's growth is mainly dependent upon the general growth of workstations and servers. One of Dell's strongest growth areas remain in workstations and servers.

expectations for MD were higher...the wunderkid. so, now we know he is more like you; yet remains the leader of an enterprise that is growing faster than its competitors.
