The Sheriff could have handled the problem. He was on friendly terms with the Davidians. The ATF and then the FBI escalated the issue to a standoff as they did in Ruby Ridge. I would say they let their egos get in the way of a peaceful solution and definitely have some leadership and morale problems. We should at least take as much care and concern in domestic negotiations as we do on the foreign scene.
