Saturn - Re: "For silicon chips a Soft Error implies a random but permanent loss of data " A slight correction. The Data loss is only temporary - until corrected (assuming ECC) or new data is written over the "old -erroneous" data. Soft Errors destroy only the data in a bit - not the storage cell itself. Paul
