they probably are, only i don't think it's the government...more likely other vested interests ganging up with the implicit approval of the requisite govt. agencies.

yep, we're having a nice distribution TRIN/TICK combo.
my guess is it'll be curtains by Friday on the PPI. of course that's not a sure thing with BLS, they'll possibly tell us gasoline prices have come down...they've done it before with similar looking price histories:
