VZ - I'm holding the bag but can't understand why anyone would dump into that news. 3 bill bonds are convertible at $69.50 so someone thinks that's a bad deal which will eventually dillute the stock I suppose. But this is also a trade-off, cheap cash now which will be used to retire more expensive debt, expand fast-growing segments or make an strategic acquisition. I'm sure the math works fine for VZ whatever they are planning.

I also wonder if there might be some takeover in the works which contributed to the slide. That would make much more sense. WCOM announced 10 billion in bonds today and only tanked 2%. They're also paying much higher interest than VZ. But neither company should be punished for issuing bonds. That's just business as usual.

Bottomline whoever sold AH in a knee-jerk reaction to this isn't too smart unless there's more to the story. Even then VZ is headed substantially higher IMHO, will be more and more dominant going forward. I for one may buy more tomorrow.

I'm not happy right now but not worried either. Holding a stock like VZ you always have to accept dips on takeovers and investments. But the pros far outweight the cons. Excellent buying op IMHO.
