Signal Technology Awarded $1.9 Million Development Program

DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2001--

Company's Keltec Division to Design, Develop and Manufacture High-Voltage Power Modules for U.S. Navy's EA-6B Prowler Electronic

Warfare Aircraft

Signal Technology Corporation ("Signal") (Nasdaq: STCO), a leading provider of electronics products for wireless communications and power management in the commercial, defense and space markets, today announced that its Keltec Division has been awarded a $1.9 million contract from BAE SYSTEMS, one of the world's largest systems, defense and aerospace companies. Follow-on production potential could exceed $10 million.

Under the contract, Signal will design, develop and manufacture a high-voltage module for the next-generation AN/ALQ-99 Band 7/8 transmitter that BAE SYSTEMS is supplying for the U.S. Navy's EA-6B Prowler aircraft program. As the Navy's mainstay electronic warfare aircraft, the Prowler has the ability to intercept, analyze and neutralize hostile radars at extremely long range and under any weather conditions. Equipped with Signal's high-voltage module, the BAE SYSTEMS transmitter will be critical to the Prowler's early warning radar jamming capabilities well into the 21st Century.

"This important award helps to emphasize Signal's continued commitment to defense-related R&D and to providing our customers with advanced solutions for defense electronics," said George Lombard, chairman and chief executive officer. "Our ability to field responsive systems and support the needs of our customers has aided our growing alliance with BAE SYSTEMS."
