F5 Networks' BIG-IP(R) Controller Sweeps
Network Computing's Well-Connected Awards

Judges Select BIG-IP As the Winner for Both 'Web Content Switching'
and 'Load Balancing' Categories for Its Superior Ability to
Intelligently Direct and Manage Traffic,
While Delivering Optimal Layer 7 Performance

LAS VEGAS--May 8, 2001--F5 Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FFIV), the
leading provider of Internet traffic and content management (iTCM)
products, today announced that the BIG-IP(R) Controller has been
awarded top honors in two categories of CMP Media LLC's Network
Computing Well-Connected Awards.
BIG-IP topped the categories of (1) 'Service Providers and
Outsourcing, Web Content Switching' and (2) 'Infrastructure, Load
Balancing Solution', over competing solutions from Nortel (Alteon),
Foundry, and Radware. BIG-IP was chosen for its superior ability to
automatically and intelligently control Internet traffic and content,
ensuring that mission-critical web servers and other devices are
continuously available and performing reliability.
"We're very honored by this recognition and are pleased that CMP's
Real-World Labs(R) agree that F5 delivers the highest value
proposition to the market for web content switching and load
balancing," said Jeff Pancottine, Senior Vice-President of Marketing
and Business Development at F5 Networks. "This is yet another
significant win for BIG-IP and a reflection of the uniquely powerful
capabilities that BIG-IP delivers to enterprises and service
providers. Customers can look forward to ongoing product enhancements
and differentiating features of BIG-IP, like OneConnect(TM) Content
Switching, announced today. This feature is a prime example of how
BIG-IP continues to advance in order to provide customers with
dramatic performance gains and simplified management of their web
infrastructure."
The winners of the Network Computing Well-Connected Awards were
announced at a gala event on Monday, May 7th held at the Bellagio in
Las Vegas, NV. All winners and finalists are highlighted in the May
14th issue of Network Computing and also on Network Computing Online
at networkcomputing.com.

About the BIG-IP Controller

BIG-IP is a high availability, load balancing product that
provides intelligent management of Internet traffic and content.
Because BIG-IP provides true Layer 7 management capabilities, it can
make more granular and intelligent load balancing decisions. BIG-IP
can identify specific traffic based on HTTP header information or IP
address to determine where a customer request should be sent --
directing traffic to a set of servers or devices that can best service
the request. HTTP header load balancing is one of BIG-IP's numerous
methods of intelligent traffic control that gives e-Businesses nearly
unlimited flexibility and manageability over the flow of IP-based
traffic.
"The Well-Connected Awards are given to products, technologies and
services that have withstood testing in our Real-World Labs(R), and
proven to be essential to meeting business initiatives," said Fritz
Nelson, Publisher of CMP's Network Computing. According to Nelson,
"When a product receives a Well-Connected award, it is an important
endorsement -- it is the top in its category and carries through with
its promise of excellence."
