Actually, I was so close to being in total accord with your last post that I was just going to let this discussion come to its natural end. But I'd hate to see you lose a bet on whether or not I'd be at a loss for words.

Thus I have just one further observation, rather than a point of disagreement.

Re the US / World heat gradient analogy:

IMO, it is that disparity in wealth that creates hope not only in US citizens but also in those throughout the developing and developed world. After all, if a college dropout can become the world's wealthiest person in less than a couple decades, isn't there more than enough opportunity to allow anyone to achieve an enormous and unprecedented level of success.

That said, even I wouldn't try to attribute that exclusively or even primarily to free trade.

Now back to trying to make some money in the market.
