i guess one's definition of extended needs to be defined. britain's system has worked well for hundreds of years. granted you can say that the Dickensian horrors of the 19th century didn't serve its majority well, but such exposes helped to bring real reform within a lifetime. the roman empire worked for hundreds of years. again you can say there was slavery and wide income disparities, but also peace and stability, the first to dawn on such a large swath of territory in history. and i would also not discount the peace and prosperity this great nation has exhibited since its original foundings in the early 17th century....... rob
