Only the timing of this ramp was surprising. It has been clear to me for some that a big ramp was in the offing.

Gold stocks acting very well for months

Lease rates have risen sharply.

Short-term interest rates have plunged.

The carry trade is MUCH less profitable and MUCH riskier than it used to be.

Note that we are getting this ramp with the dollar still strong. Imagine what might happen when the buck goes down for the count.
