Jerry wants market share and Intel is spending to make the Pentium 4 popular. Jerry piggybacks on those ads

Someone suggested Athlon XP. I think this was a masterful suggestion - serves the same purpose as piggybacking on someone else's advertising budget, just that this someone else happens to be a heck of a lot richer than Intel, and has already committed to spending a huge amount of money on advertising XP.

Another interesting note is that Windows XP will initially be available only in a Home and Professional version, not the server version. Given AMD's lack of server wins, this is becomes a happy coincidence - hopefully, by the time Windows XP server comes out, AMD would have some servers out there.
