This week's Inside Track article on page C1 by Bridget O'Brian focuses on the recent insider selling at America Online (AOL), which follows significant stock price appreciation. This activity marks an acceleration in the volume of insider sales over the past several months. In May, six insiders sold or filed their form 144 intention to sell a total of 403,640 shares. Many of the shares involved in this activity were option-related and the options would not have expired in the near term. However, it should be noted that these executives are not materially reducing their holdings with these sales.
