Supersonic bullets, like the rounds from Oswald's rifle, create two sound waves per bullet. One is the muzzle blast, one is the bullet breaking the sound barrier. This bit of physics accounts for all of the "extra" gunshots picked up on the various microphones around Dealy Plaza.

If there was a shooter on the grassy knoll, where was he hiding? The grassy knoll is quite small. Dealy Plaza is quite small. The tree seen in pictures of the knoll, which some conspiracy buffs argue was hiding the 2nd shooter, was all of six feet tall.
