Three new products released

Wednesday Jun 11 1997
News Release

Mr Brian Reed reports At an Interpol Conference in Helsinki, the company introduced three new innovative solutions for use in applications where document integrity and security is a prime objective. AIT's new PAX Reader offers a secure, flexible and highly accurate solution for the automatic entry of traveller data into Customs and Immigration systems. The PAX Reader is capable of reading all ICAO (international Civil Aviation Organization) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) compliant machine readable documents, as well as magnetic encoded data, including three and four track magnetic strips found on documents such as ATB coupons, boarding passes and credit cards. Totally independent of document swipe speed, the unit incorporates high resolution scanning and exceptional recognition rates for OCR-B Machine Readable Passports, Visas and ID cards. Bi-directional swipe technology facilitates efficient and effortless operation and scanned data can be transmitted into any computer system for verification and storage. Superior versatility and reliability combine to make this highly compact and rugged PAX unit, with its easy to use features, the natural choice for an integrated travel document control solution. AIT's second new product release WISE 2.0 (Windows Issuance System Environment) is a graphically intuitive software application designed for the issuance of ICAO compliant passports and other machine readable and non-machine readable secure documents including national identity cards and drivers' licences. The familiar Windows based environment provides issuance authorities with a cost effective and simple to implement system. WISE 2.0 has been designed to support all functions typically required for secure document issuance and unique client requirements can be readily accommodated by customized modules. Multiple configuration options support both centralized and decentralized issuance architecture. WISE 2.0's process and materials independence provides AIT's customers the most secure and flexible issuance solution. A new AIT process dubbed DLTI (Double Laminate Teslin Insert) combines high resolution color laser printing with a unique synthetic paper called Teslin Synthetic Printing Sheet in an ICAO compliant format. The high quality colour facial image offers superior clarity and stability, facilitating efficient inspection by border control officers throughout the extended life of the document. The benefits of Teslin include maximum durability, dimensional stability and chemical resistance. Teslin also provides a waterproof, microporous polyolefin base that can be compressed into sheets of various thickness depending upon the clients' requirements. Its open cell, pore-like structure provides exceptional bonding to security inks, toners and laminates. The result of this new process is a finished document that is consistently machine readable, substantially reducing document rejection rates at quality assurance inspections.
