hi mike

a quick (and hopefully effective) thing to try is to right-click the desk top and select 'refresh'.

if that doesn't do it, rebooting often will.

as an interim thing to try (between the two noted above), is to click start/settings/control panel/system

sometimes i've been able to restore icons just by doing that.
