Oh my God! Time to go long LOCK again! LOL: "Sturm, Ruger & Co. Recalls 2 Million Gun Locks, U.S. CPSC Says
Washington, May 10 (Bloomberg) -- Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. is recalling 1.2 million padlocks and 800,000 cable locks because the gun locks can be opened without the required keys. The padlocks were included with lockable boxes shipped with all of Ruger's pistols and revolvers from 1987 to 1995, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The cable locks were shipped with Ruger rifles and shotguns from 1998 to March 2001, the commission said. The padlocks can be opened using keys other than those provided by the company, and the cable locks can be opened if struck with sufficient force, the CPSC said. ``We've been doing it since March 15,'' said Ruger spokeswoman Phyllis Garber of the lock exchange. ``A customer who has one of the older locks that wants to receive a new lock at no charge should just contact us or send the lock back, and we'll send them a new lock.'' The Southport, Connecticut-based company is aware of three incidents where a consumer was able to open a padlock without its designated key. No injures were reported, the commission said. Consumers should send the old padlocks and cable locks to Sturm, Ruger & Co., Dept. LK, 411 Sunapee Street, Newport, NH 03773 for a free replacement and may call the company at 888-317- 6887 for more information. Shares of Sturm, Ruger & Co. fell 14 cents to $10.23 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
