If I were to do anything far out of the ordinary in a given setting, it would be an imposition, because it would draw undue attention to myself, and disrupt the flow of ideas or conversation among by- standers. In a restaurant, for example, if I were to stand on my chair, without noise, it would be as irresistible for the other diners to focus on me as it would be difficult to block out the noise of a boombox. A good deal of ordinary courtesy is not to impose yourself in such a manner on others.
