I thought I-Mode's model is similar. NTT DoCoMo has a full control over developers' software distribution.

My understanding of i-mode is that it basically has two tiers of services. The first are the "official" sites which are accessed through the i-mode menu. The second tier consists of thousands of "unofficial" sites which must be accessed by typing in a URL. It might be painstaking but the way I understand it is that much of i-mode's usage shows up on the unofficial sites.

How else will they allow mobile porn? In all seriousness....a US operator couldnt be seen as officially endorsing it (look at the Yahoo flap), but they would likely make quite a bit of money off of access charges, even if the customer had to find the site themselves.
