EC. I just retired from the mining industry year and half ago ( INCO ) you ever heard of them :-)
A big area of my responsibility was the environment that part which dealt with water. The big rub at INCO was how the mining industry was being regulated out of business. Gov. people everywhere looking for any excuse to lay charges.
You ever been to the tailings area for INCO, this is a huge area that has now become a stop over area for migrating
water fowl and I think some stay to nest and this is due to the efforts of the mining industry keeping the environment clean. All run off water leaving the mining property must have heavy metals removed and the PH returned to 7.
Any mining water leaving the property ( that water that is pumped up from underground ) must also be treated in the same manner as surface runoff.
I can remember times during spring runoff or a sudden downpour of rain when our settling ponds would run over ( called an act of God ) and we would be charged with an exceedence, just plain stupid but thats the kind of crap the mining industry must endure and pay fines for.
Take care.
Lorne
PS. You still around the Timmins area?
