I'd also like to point out that the state of Washington has no state income tax and no capital gains tax.

For those of you that still live in California with an effective 9.2% capital gains tax rate, you might want to consider relocating. Wait until you sell your home in California before selling your stocks otherwise the State Franchise Tax Board will try to make you pay 9.2%

Gas Taxes, Sales Taxes and Property taxes are about the same as in California and Electricty is still much cheaper and continuously available.
