Well anyway Carl I have stated on TMF that it should not be too difficult to actually measure the darn consumption instead of writing books about it. AND the controller (northbridge) should be part of the equation because it is very well possible that a more complicated nb uses more power than a simple one (also there are imo those pullups inside the nb as well).
