Flack, I really am sorry to hear about your tech problems. Having been through hell many with isp services and trying to deal with the incredible lack of comptency which is prevasive out there is so frustrating, I feel for you bro big time.

Couple suggestions on the WOW. Part of the problem can be your isp speed.
1. If you can get DSL or cable, get it period. If you can not try ISDN, I'm on the list in Santa Fe, may take 5 months. Do not get satellit\e service, will not work with WOW (been there, done that).
2. Call WOW and ask them what ping time is required. They should give you some numbers and instructions on how to conduct a ping test. You go into DOS and type something like ping 63.61.25.321. You will get back the timing in milleseconds. I have not done it with WOW, but my brokers trading platform, which because I am in isp hell I can never get good enough speed. Still runs, but lot of problems.
3. When you speak to WOW they can tell you how to disable various anti virus devices which are installed on your computer. You have Dell so you probably have Mcaffe (sp?) anti virus software, which slows the processing of the information.
4. If ping times are bad (which would be strange since it once worked ok for you) you might want to try another isp service.

My general experince with this type of stuff (crap that no one can figure out or give you a good solution for) is the problem may be with your isp service. You may want to check with them as to any has changes. This happened to me once I was subject to constant failures and after 2 weeks of in the face lying, they kept telling problem was with my local phone company in NYC, but it turned out they had put in new servers and that was the problem. I do not know why isp's lie, but they do, and I have had this experience with several services.

Do the ping test. If the time is bad try another isp if you do not get DSL. I have also heard local isp's may be better than big for speed, but my own experience does not bear this out for ping tests in Santa Fe. You can also pre test an isp before you sign up by pinging them and checking out this speed. They can give you the ping info.

Good luck, cause in tech hell it's needed.
